Re: What is the cause of tears in scans?
It seems likely that a mechanical problem could cause the motor to skip a step. It would be quite hard to move the object by this small amount on purpose. Once it overcomes friction, it would move more than that. When my computer can't take the data quckly enough, my scanner stops, rewinds a little,...

What is the cause of tears in scans?
I have noticed that a large proportion of scans performed by other people have tears in them in the form of dropped rows of pixels. They are not rare. For example, https://i.imgur.com/KD2Kgca.jpg https://i.imgur.com/FXFEyWn.jpg When an image like that is processed with a descreen filter, the missing...

Re: Would you bother uploading images that are less than ide
I keep forgetting the name of this site. Of course if we're submitting original or remixed "art", there has to be a certain standard. Well, I'm no artist. I just quit MusicBrainz because they expected that almost nothing should be done to an image. And here the ideal is an almost original creation t...

Would you bother uploading images that are less than ideal?
Should I bother posting an album cover art that I recognize could be improved with better source material, which is unfortunately not available. The image is still the best choice from the open internet, possibly excluding AAX archive. For example, I see that there is a stray moire pattern because t...

Re: Please help identifying (similar to Trebuchet)
"What The Font" worked better. I gave it more letters including G and Q, which didn't match before. I didn't have to recognize the symbols myself, unlike on WhatFontIs, and the site didn't complain about adblocker. I frankly didn't want to spend more time on WhatFontIs because the site had too much ...

Please help identifying (similar to Trebuchet)
Can you please help me to identify this font? The font is similar to Trebuchet MS, but has obvious embellishments, such as many corners are diagonal, and some of them extend outward, where those edges are plain and straight in the Windows font. I have seen this font more than once on a CD, but I can...

How are images flagged to need Replacement?
I've noticed a few poor quality images on site, and some others greyed out and marked as needing Replacement. They were not quite as bad as the ones that I noticed were not marked. I suppose a moderator hasn't had interest in those artists and hasn't looked at the pictures. How does an image get fla...

Ok, right. I though the GUIDs looked familiar.

Singles in the cover art database
I noticed that some modern pop music has Singles listed among Albums. (Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Won't Change You, Ellie Goulding - Burn). However, none of older artists do. They all have pre-populated album lists that are complete. Are singles are permitted to be uploaded, and how would one go about do...
