Re: What does not fit:

The filter you're using to get rid of the moire looks funny to me. It removes/alters a lot of detail, yet sharpens edges a lot. It makes the lettering look rather lo fi and pixelated. Your image is skewed (as is the original scan) - you really should use photoshop's ruler tool to find a straight lin...

Re: Descreening in Photoshop

I have to say that I haven't done to many covers since I bought it and I'm thinking that the Home Edition should do just fine when it comes to producing "fanart.tv-material". But I'm in the process of doing a study to see if I could start up a business of my own in which photo restauration and reto...

Re: Scanner recommendations

For 12'' covers a large format scanner would be the ideal solution, but most are several thousand $. Way outside my budget, so I didn't look much into it. Large enough flat bed scanners do exist. I found an affordable scanner large enough to scan a record sleeve in two passes (instaed of four), but ...

Re: Stealing images from Fanart to put up on 'AAX'

I pulled all my scans from AlbumArtExchange because of their Admin's double standards and general attitude. Apparently it's 'only fair' to collect artwork for AAX from Fanart, but it's a big issue when fanart users do the same for this site. I still think it's bad style to raid other album art sites...

Re: Rules Cdart

No idea about the rules, but there is room for improvement. Descreening could be worth a try, but the scan is less than ideal to begin with. That rainbow light pattern should be avoided if possible. A sheet of diffusive plastic should do the trick: https://www.kepstin.ca/blog/scanning-cds/

Re: Scanner recommendations

Here's a neat fix for the CD scan problem: https://www.kepstin.ca/blog/scanning-cds/ Alternatively one could simply used a scanner with a CIS sensor for scanning discs. Their limited depth of field is really useful in this case. I do like Kepstin's results with the diffusive plastic better, though. ...

Re: HOWTO: Add album to the database

How can I add this album cover to the list of uploaded album titles? I've found the release I.D. page. Here is the link: https://musicbrainz.org/release/b52d23b3-416f-4662-a1af-f4718da44d1b/details When I click on external links to get the release I.D. (which it looks like you have to do now) I can...

Re: What is the cause of tears in scans?

This once happened to me when the scanned object was moved.
This site suggests it can also be related to mechanical problems: http://www.scantips.com/faq1.html
Not sure if the scanner stopping and restarting can cause this, but it does sound likely.

Re: Small Vinyl Single

Why would you make it so small? You wouldn't use smaller images for single covers either, would you?

Re: Descreening in Photoshop

Cleanup of Blue (Y angle) worked surprisingly well in "backbeats". Usually it doesn't work. The dpi was 400 (2.3x). Color is wiped out in suzi. Surprisingly the program doesn't need good color quality to perform actual reduction in red-green, only to do the intial measurement. (That is for the olde...
