The Pen Tool, also known as the Path tool is your best friend in Photoshop to make logos or cleararts. So I would recommend you to learn how to use it. It takes a bit of practice but once you get it, no logos or cleararts are impossible to make. Here are a couple of great tutorials for it. One video...
