The state of the Music Section

Post by ArieS »

I would describe it as the Wild Wild West... and not in a good way. Members are being rude to the mods and it seems people are trigger happy at reporting images just to push their own images instead.. The images they are uploading for replacement are ,for the most part, not even/or barely better.
People, unless the images are crappy or you have a much better image, don't bother reporting them as the mods will not delete the old ones unless, again, yours is a significant improvement.
This is why we have a vote feature, so if your image is much better users will vote on it.

Also, may I remind you about the way you deal with the mods. They know what they are doing and if they deny an image, they have a damn good reason.
They will be polite to you so it better go both ways. If you're a dick, a deleted account/Ban is just a click away, just saying...
Remember that all staff members are volunteers so we are not here to take any kind of shit from other members.

Of course 95% of the members who upload images in the Music Section are not the target of this post and we thank them for their submissions.
This is addressed to the other 5% and you are the kind we really don't need on this site.

And keep in mind that if one day no one wants to mod the Music Section anymore then we'll just close it down.

@ArieS, I get what your saying. People can be nasty when they think there artwork is better. On another site where only one image can be used, I've had people harass me on twitter & FB asking me to remove an image so there's can be used. I like the fact that a mod has to approve images before they can be used. Look at how much crap is uploaded to themoviedb.org. I like to say thanks to the moderators on this site.

The mods rock they do a hard job and deserve respect for what they do. Without them we would be looking a crappy art. I know it would drive me nuts, to take the time to look over submissions and inspect them. So given them their dues.
It is just as easy to say something good as it is to say something bad. The defence is, you will learn more talking to people than say bad things. Using bad words, just drops yourself in the contempt pile and you learn nothing and get nowhere. Take the time to vote and drop a note to someone, say Nice job on that cover. For that cover you have been looking for and could not find, Remember someone took the time to find it and clean it.
We don't do it for the money there is none. We do it for the love of the art or a favorite bands. Make friends, then as you do, you can ask them if they can find an album cover you can't find. Then we will be working together. It's not that hard. I have found request ask of me and have had others find covers I could not find. It's fun and cool and always remember the rule. Only the best will do. :)

"kudos" to you @Aries/mods/contributors
for your consistent aesthetic insistence,
high standards and images par excellence,
surely you mispelled the subjective title of this post,
ye are not merely "the state of the Music Section"
but "the taste of the Music Section"...

Thanks for pointing this out, ArieS - and sorry for being MIA.

My kid has been sick and we've been visiting doctors and hospitals. That's the reason for why I haven't had a chance to focus on fanart.tv :)
I'll try to be more active now, since everything seems to be back on track.

With that said, I have to say that I am one of those that have been abused by users. They get really pissed off when I deny their images and get nasty and personal. The mods are never personal and always have a damn good reason for their decision. Please remember that all we want is the best for the community and fanart.tv, nothing more - nothing less.

One thing we should always expect is that we are polite to each other. Is that too much to ask? :)
