These will definite come in handy, thanks. I have been doing the good old fashioned google image search all along and have stumbled upon a couple of these sites. :D

For cd covers I use these:

http://coverlib.com/
http://www.allcdcovers.com
https://archive.org/details/coverartarchive

I tend to get better results with images I scanned myself, though.

A lot of CD covers are available from Google Play in high quality, if you know where to look.

* Take fx the album Songs For Silverman by Ben Folds: https://play.google.com/store/music/alb ... ajgrezggty
* Right click on the cover art -> Open Image in New Tab (At least that's what Chrome calls it). https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/Pbjjn ... _A=w300-rw
* Replace the "w300" in the url with "w3000" (Or some other high number). https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/Pbjjn ... A=w3000-rw

There you have it, a nice, high resolution, good quality (most of the time) cover, ready to be imported into GIMP or wherever and rescaled/cropped down to 1000 x 1000 (and maybe check black levels while you're at it).

For covers with non 1:1 aspect ratio, please crop the image instead of changing the aspect ratio.

As for a source for good quality audio covers coverlib.com seems to be gone :(
At least I haven't been able to go there for at least a month now

The quality there wasn't all that good, to be honest. When I tink of coverlib, I think of hardly fixable moire problems.

Rumour has it the site has been closed by the authorities because of copyright violations.
