Actions speak louder than clicks

Post by Cheesegeezer »

Well the title is not entirely true

I was wondering if you Photoshop wizards have thought about creating PS Actions to help automate fanart creation and probably allow a larger success rate of correctly sized images into your ever growing portfolio.

As an example, the tutorial for say the logo shows a couple of logos being created and uses exactly the same methods to crop the image and resize the canvas. These could then be available for download in their respective sections or even as a pack for all artwork.

another 2c worth.

Hey Cheesegeezer, we used to have Templates (not sure if we had one for each different image type) but I'm not sure where they are or if we still have them now that the site is evolving :)
We will add them back shortly!
PS Actions? No idea what that is :D

Are you talking about a plug in or script?

ps action is an automated set of instructions used in photoshop.
You can do this by 'recording' actions you do in photoshop then saving those action as.......a PS action
so you set to record then go through the process of resizing and trimming then once done you stop the 'recording' this is then saved.
This action can be used for a multitude of things (I have used them before to resize multiple images in a batch)
(btw this is only a simple answer - I personally have only needed to use an action once in all the time I have used PS)
I find trimming and resizing images much easier the way Aries has. (I was glad to see I did it exactly the same way LOL)

Well, PSactions have helped me a lot. Batching resizing large number of fanarts and posters at once. Best part is that you can have custom shortcut keys for em. Like, Im working on this large 16:9 image, instead of the clicking Image -> Image size, I just use actions (one shortcut key) and it gets the job done.
I dont think it will ever help you if you're making PNGs.

I think this just shows that you don't need to be an expert to create awesome fanart. Just a willingness to learn. ;)
