Our user, quigonjean, reported that he sometimes needs several tries when adding MBIDs to our database. I have experienced this myself. When adding a album to our database, I get the MBID from MusicBrainz and when trying to add it I get the message "Invalid release group ID" (or something like that). If I just keep trying to add the same MBID, it will finally go through and will be added to the database after about 3-4 tries.

Is there anything we can do about this?
I'm afraid that some users will think they have the wrong MBID when getting the error message at first try, and won't add the album and upload their fanart

Not sure, it's difficult to debug without a selection of mbids that aren't already in our database, I think we must be getting throttled or something.

I am encountering the same issue, for debugging purposes I am currently trying to add the following release groups:

8b2d4efb-3f3f-4d6e-83f0-dc9d8ad8d8bb (Calvin Harris - Motion)
28c9f149-e24d-4a5d-b9ec-d65e9019a7e0 (Bastille - Oblivion EP)

Since the bug persists, to help, I compiled artists that have all or most of their releases missing on fanart:

One more that could possibly help:
Russian band Аркона, they do have a profile here, but there is a bug where all the album names have question marks instead of letters.
If the profile was deleted and then renewed that would give 13 more titles. The existing images I can replace, most of them in higher quality.

Wrong ID. You need the release group ID, not the release ID. Add album to the database, section 4.

Few weeks back, before MusicBrainz upgraded their db server, I was getting timeouts even when browsing around on their site. I haven't been on much since then, but assuming it was also timing out via the API it would be nice to see a different error message if at all possible. Particularly, when the release ID is correct.

I have to refresh this thread. Recently adding any album to the database is practically impossible (for me, at least). I can spend 5 minutes repeating "CTRL+V + ENTER" but still nothing happens. All I see is "Not a valid release group id or musicbrainz is limiting requests". It gets quite annoying, TBH.

And yes, I'm using proper release group ID.

An example would be handy for troubleshooting.

It's the same for me - can't add an album with the release-group ID from MusicBrainz. I tried a dozens time (right after each other but also several hours later) for quite some time.

In my example it's a CD from Axel Prahl called 'Live' - the release group ID I use is: 621fdcc5-642b-472e-8ac5-d13bc9a5297e.

Any idea what I might be doing wrong or what is going wrong with the interface?

I've changed the way it does the adding now, so hopefully that will be ok in the future.
